PRAYER

This is a subject that we should attach ourselves to and not let go. Prayer is a discussion with God, petitioning Him for needs, about problems, and offering Him thanksgiving and praise. Jesus taught us how to pray or told us how to pray. Matthew 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

When thou prayest;” He said this taking it for granted that we are going to pray. The disciples came to Him and asked in essence, “teach us how to pray like you do.”

How is it done? The answer was really quite simple:

1.   Enter into a quiet place where you will not be    disturbed.

2. Shut the door to all activities and rest in Him and give your whole attention to Him. Many people tell me that they pray while driving, showering, walking; this is all good but He is talking about a solitary place where it will only be you and Him. You come into His office and He tells you to “shut the door please.”

3. Your “closet” visit is a visit of highest privilege and of a confidential type. What is said there, stays there. God is not going to share with anyone your secrets so you will be discredited as so often happens with our sharing with others of the flesh.

4. The reward that you will receive will be one that others may not understand. Only you will know when, perhaps, the Lord blesses you because of your faithfulness and obedience to His request.

The other request that we have been given is to “pray without ceasing.” Here you can pray at anytime, anywhere for requests for those that the Lord may lay on your heart. Yet, there is no time like the “Closet” time that He has arranged for you. May I encourage you today to enter your special closet time and there you I promise you He will meet you!
