BEARING AND SHARING THE BURDENS

Galatians 6:1- 2

Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. Bear one another's burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ.

I notice that Paul was possibly speaking to the Christian Brothers in the Lord with him as he gave this portion of instruction. He was speaking with the compassion of Christ. This is what Jesus did for so many when He walked the earth who were struggling with strongholds in their lives even to the point where the stronghold was completely controlled by the devil and his demons. There was the man of the Gadarenes (Mark chapter 5) which had a huge stronghold of demons, legions, living in him. The Word called this type a man with an unclean spirit. The man had a legion of unclean spirits in him; can you imagine what it must have been like to have such an overpowering power! Yet, many today have an “overpowering power” of a type of addiction or multiple addictions within them that is totally controlling them. This is why a spirit of gentleness or understanding is so important and be used and applied. Notice what St. Paul said; “ considering yourself lest you also be tempted”.

The woman caught in the act of adultery which was a huge sin to the Scribes and Pharisees according to the law of Moses. When Jesus used His Compassion on her the scribes and Pharisees could not stand in His presence. They could not stand in the presence of Gentleness and total Love; the Christ type Love.

Let us remember to be the ones who exhibit the love and compassion of Christ when we are confronted with ones caught in a trespass lest we also be caught likewise. I think another verse to use that Jesus gave us is “ judge not lest ye be judge”.
