Testimony of the Month

“I was sexually abused as a child at 5 to 15 years old. This caused
me to have severe anger problems which included tremendous outbursts,
crying, cursing and destroying things in the home. Due to the anger
I directed at myself because of overwhelming guilt and shame I had
for myself, I've always felt dirty and insignificant. I married when
I was 24 to a young man who was very confused about his identity and
struggled with various types of sexual immorality. The reason I married
him is because my self esteem was so low I thought that he was the
only one who would have me. My husband had a neck injury got hooked
on pain pills and his muscle injury opened the door for me to become
hooked on prescription drugs. Four and a half years later I found
myself in a divorce due to his refusal to get help with his drug addiction.
I didn't use until I was in my early thirties. I got so bad with my
drug addiction that I found myself stealing pills from my friends
and family to fulfill the appetite for my addiction. Now at forty-one
I have lost my job after ten years because of stealing prescription
drugs and found my life completely out of control due to the guilt,
the shame, the anger and the drug abuse. At this point I reached out
for help. I went to treatment for nine days and then, having heard
about Addicts Victorious through our AV support group program at church,
came to the 5-Day Biblical Counseling Program. The program gave me
a foundation, an Identity. I have found that I can totally live free
from my anxiety, my guilt, my shame, my anger and my dependency on
drugs. The 5-Day Biblical Counseling program has been a life-changing
experience. I now have hope for the future and total confidence through
my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I would like to personally thank
all the people that support this ministry and make this program possible.”
