Throughout the years I experimented with drugs. I tried pot a few times and didn't get into heavy drugs until I was twenty-eight. Then my husband and I lost our jobs. At that time I became addicted to gambling. Due to the gambling and other addictions we lost our house and moved into a hotel with our four children. We eventually moved into public housing.
After my husband went to work on the road, I became seriously addicted to meth. My husband eventually went to jail and financially we were struggling again. I couldn't work because I have a handicapped son that was in the home at that time. Then I sold my son's behavioral medication to get money, the consequences of that got me arrested, this also caused my children to be taken from the home. I tried 12 step programs, which just didn't work for me.
Then I found out about Addicts Victorious and the 5-day Biblical Counseling Program, it truly changed my life. I finally found peace and victory from my addictions. Through that I received a close relationship with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And I'm now walking with Him every day. I now turn to GOD when we have struggles instead of drugs. |
