I was 17 years old when I took my first drink; this began the drinking problem that escalated throughout my life. At 20, when I first went into the service, I started smoking—a bad habit which continued for many years.
At 27, I was married and had two beautiful children, a boy and a girl. I was living in St. Louis, where I had been employed for 18 years.
At 36 my marriage fell apart, which absolutely devastated me. At this point my drinking escalated and I became a serious alcoholic.
Then, at the age of 48, I was married for the second time. However, my wife and I were both serious alcoholics. Due to our alcoholism we were constantly fighting, which caused me to be arrested numerous times for domestic battery.
Finally, in 2004 I was sent to prison where I spent 6 months due to the alcoholism and violence in my life. After returning home, my alcoholism continued; I lost many jobs and had become a hopeless individual.
In December 2005, an individual encouraged me to seek help and recommended the Addicts Victorious programs, which I started attending. During the first couple of programs I attended, I realized that I needed serious help. I asked about the 5-Day Biblical Counseling program. There was just one problem. It cost $550 to attend and here I was, completely broke, down-and-out.
It was at this point that Rev. Jenkins told me he would try to see if there was some sponsorship money available. There was, so I went to the 5-Day Program and had a life-changing experience. I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, was saved, delivered, and healed. I thank God for the 5-Day Biblical Counseling Program, which has saved my life. I found hope when I had no hope.
