I was born in Las Vegas, Nevada from a mother who was an alcoholic, drug addict and a prostitute; she died in January 2006 from AIDS and my father hung himself when I was ten. At birth she gave me to my grandparents who were in their mid-sixties at the time. I lived with them until I was 15, then I was put in a girl’s home.
After that I was put in an all girls foster home in the family of a pastor who tried to sexually abuse me. The State placed me with my Aunt and Uncle who were physically and verbally abusive; I was then 16 years old. I moved in with my boyfriend at 17 and in that July my grandmother died.
This started me on a downward spiral; I started drinking and using drugs. When I turned 18, I dropped out of school and moved to California to meet with one of my 6 siblings. I got pregnant and had an abortion. From there I lived on the streets of Oceanside, California.
My Aunt sent enough money to take a bus back to Clarksdale, Missouri. After bouncing around from state to state I ended up in Quincy, Illinois at 19. The alcoholism continued to the point I was arrested and lodged in the Adams County jail for 120 days. While in jail I met a girl who said I could live with her family when I got out. There I met my fiancée, who I ended up living with, and now have a child with. But my alcoholism and drug use continued to the point that I desperately needed help.
Through the church I was attending I found out about the Addicts Victorious 5-day Biblical Counseling Program which was truly a life-changing experience. Through the program I received total deliverance through Jesus Christ, from my alcohol and drug problem. And for the first time in my life I feel FREE from guilt and shame and am a new creation through Him, and it feels GREAT!!!!! I have never felt this good before; this is the ultimate FIX. PRAISE GOD.
