Addicts Victorious'

Testimony of the Month

Eleven years ago our marriage started out on the wrong foot with a crash that almost killed my future wife and her Maid of Honor because of alcohol and marijuana.  I received a phone call at 3 a.m. on the morning of my wedding to come to the emergency room where they were being treated.

Since then our life continued in a downward spiral of drug and alcohol use.  In spite of the devastation, we have been blessed with two beautiful children, one 8 years old, and one who's 2.

Methamphetamines had been at the forefront of our lives for the entirety of our marriage, taking precedence over everyone and everything.  I lost my job and was forced to get on unemployment; my self-esteem was at an all-time low.  "Meth" had stolen my job, my self-esteem, and I was afraid that it was going to steal my family.

I began to search for a way out of this hell.  My wife and I were both afraid to step out and ask for help because we felt that we would be betraying each other's trust.  Finally, I felt that I had to do something or we were going to lose each other and maybe even our lives.

Someone suggested that I try the Addicts Victorious 5-Day Program.  Up until this point I would not have even contemplated getting into rehabilitation, let alone a Christian-based program.  I felt, at this point, like we had tried everything else so we might as well try this.  It was a last ditch effort.  Our options had been narrowed to the "5-Day Biblical Counseling Program," prison, or hell.

I chose what I considered the ‘lesser of the evils’ and my wife was persuaded to go with me.  At one point, during the 5-Day, Jerry [Rev. Jerald Jenkins] challenged us to ask Jesus to reveal Himself to us if He was real and then Jerry told us to hold on.  We did.  Jesus Christ did.  Our lives will never be the same!
