I was raised in a family that did not attend church. At the age of about 16, I began drinking and at about age 28, I started gambling. This continued throughout my life. At 16 years old I also started working and have worked at various jobs until the present time where I am still working. I basically consider myself a pretty nice person except when I'm on alcohol. I also consider myself a very reliable person and hold down a very reliable position where I work. However, between my alcohol addiction and my gambling addiction, I found myself in a very serious situation. I've lost almost $40,000 gambling, almost lost my apartment, and had to file bankruptcy. Due to the stress I found myself drinking every night. At this point in my life I felt hopeless. One night on my way to the laundry mat, I happen to look up and saw an Addicts Victorious sign with their phone number. After inquiring about the 5-day Biblical Counseling Program, I decided to attend. This was an unusual experience due to the fact I'd never been in church or owned a Bible. The very first day, I found out how much God loves me, and how He sent Jesus Christ to die in my place and pay for my sin. Now at 51 years old I have finally found peace in my life. I am thankful that this program is available and would encourage anyone that needs help to take the course.
